Oase BioMaster Canister (external) Filters
General information
This is an advanced High Quality German made external canister filter.
Note! These filters are not available at the moment.
The main advantages are:
- Built in Pre-filter
Built in Pre-filter for easy maintenance. This means you have to open up your filter MUCH less often for a total clean than with other filters.
- Built-in Heater (BioMaster Thermo versions)
The BioMaster Thermo versions have built-in heaters (HeatUp 100-400). The BioMaster series without heaters can be retrofitted with a HeatUp heater after installation.
- Priming function
BioMaster has a Priming button to get water flowing when installing or after cleaning.
Other features
- Detachable hoses with clever locking mechanism to avoid flooding.
- Really sturdy plastic construction.
- Large canister volume for plenty of filter materials.
The following restrictions apply to the unit:
- Only use indoors and for aquaristic purposes in the home (not for commercial use).
- Only operate with water at a water temperature of +4 °C to +35 °C.
Intended use
Only use the product described in this manual as follows:
- BioMaster 250/350/600/850: Water filtering and recirculation.
- BioMaster Thermo 250/350/600/850: Water heating, filtering and recirculation.
- For operation with freshwater or saltwater.
Functional description
See the image below for a visual of the description below.
- The pump draws water through the pre-filter
- Through to the chamber with the heater (if present)
- Water then flows from the bottom of the canister through trays with filter materials to the top and out in to the tank again

We do not suggest using the filter materials as are shown in the original images from Oase. See the ###post about how to setup a BioMaster filter the right way.

Pre-filter configuration BioMaster
The pre-filter comes in 3 different densities:
- 30 ppi (pores per inch)
- 45 ppi (shipped with the filter)
- 60 ppi
The different filters have the following number of filter sponges (see image below):
- BioMaster 250 + Thermo: 4 pcs.
- BioMaster 350 + Thermo: 5 pcs.
- BioMaster 600 + Thermo: 6 pcs.
- BioMaster 850 + Thermo: 7 pcs.

The different filters have the following number of Trays (see image above):
- BioMaster 250 + Thermo: 3.5 trays
- BioMaster 350 + Thermo: 4.5 trays
- BioMaster 600 + Thermo: 5.5 trays
- BioMaster 850 + Thermo: 6.5 trays
Warnings
- This unit can be used by children aged 8 and above and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed on how to use the unit in a safe way and they understand the hazards involved.
- Do not allow children to play with the unit.
- Only allow children to carry out cleaning and user maintenance under supervision.
- Switch off all units in the aquarium or disconnect the power plugs of all units before reaching into the water.
- Do not use the unit if electrical cables or housings are damaged.
- Only connect the unit if the electrical data of the unit and the power supply correspond. The unit data is to be found on the unit type plate, on the packaging or in this manual.
- Disconnect the power plug before carrying out any work on the unit
Safety Information
- Never operate the unit if the housing is defective!
- Never operate the unit if any electrical cables are defective!
- Never carry or pull the unit by the electrical cable.
- Route cables such that they are protected from damage and do not present a tripping hazard.
- Only open the unit housing or its attendant components if this is explicitly specified in the operating instructions.
Only carry out work on the unit that is described in this manual. If problems cannot be overcome, please contact an authorised customer service point or, if in doubt, the manufacturer.
- Only use original spare parts and accessories for the
unit.
- Never carry out technical changes to the unit.
- Protect the plug connection from moisture.
- Only connect the unit to a correctly fitted socket.
