A very small species but does NOT belong to the Dwarf Lineage (Lineage 4). It belongs to Lineage 9 like for instance another dwarf, the CW140.

Corydoras habrosus is restricted to the Apure and Arauca river drainages in Colombia and Venezuela.

The Species is considered “Near Threatend” by IUCN: “Dwarf Cory Corydoras habrosus has most recently been assessed for The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 2020. Corydoras habrosus is listed as Near Threatened under criteria B2ab(iii).”

Basic ID

Small greyish brown body with dark brown blotches. Narrow red eye-ring.

Sexing

Looking at the fish from above, the female is widest at the center of the body, while the male is widest just behind the pectoral fins.
When they are well fed or in breeding condition the female is always plumper, also seen from the side.
